Poor editing aside, I really liked this book. Lots of stuff I didn't know outweighed the stuff I already did know. Some is so simple and obvious, just never realised but I guess thats the whole point of the book.
Worth a read as anything that gives you those extra tips and tricks helps right?

Whether you are a beginner to running, a master of running, or you are an athlete, this guide will show you how to get stronger, faster, mentally fit, and “kill it” with your running speeds and endurance levels.’

So Erik’s goal is to show us how to run better, more efficiently, longer, and with better cardiovascular and general muscle strength and health improvement. He wisely starts form the top with a fine section on the all important warm-up exercises and stretches, shows us the proper physical form to adopt for running, offers insights on the correct diet to support our learning the right way to run, emphasizes strength training – all those aspects of running that we may not have even considered. For example, ‘The one thing that many beginner runners don’t understand is if they want to increase the miles that they can run, they need to vary their workouts. Mixing long and short runs in your training will make you stronger, allow your body to rest, and will make your workouts less boring. Varying your runs on a weekly basis will help you break through plateaus also.’

This book is a short, straightforward beginners guide to running. Erik Smith's work provides sound advice to the person who has decided that they want to get off the couch and get moving. He offers tips on form, diet, running faster and improving over time. Lots of spring get up and go books seem to be written by hoorah "coaches" who take a bit of pleasure is setting impossible initial goals or construct confusing workouts. Smith lays out a quick how to get moving no muss, no fuss.

After reading this one can get a start on moving, cross-training, eating decently, and training in different ways to improve and avoid boredom.

There a few typos throughout and an occasional confusing description - e.g. when he described arm movement as "Your arms should move in a backward and forward motion; starting from your hip to chest level, with your forearm perpendicular to the ground." At this point, I envisioned punching rather than running.
Being a gym person, i always had a craving for my running abilities in order to burn fat and keep my stamina up. This book really helped me a lot in increasing that duration stamp for my running experience and now i find myself far more confident on the health front. This book genuinely provides some interesting insights. If you are game for running, go get this book and don't miss it at any cost.
